The Via Arté Italian Street Painting Festival takes place at The Marketplace on October 19 & 20, 2024, from 9 AM to 8 pm

Bakersfield Museum Art’s 26th annual Via Arté Italian Street Painting Festival has become a beloved local tradition; thousands of visitors from all over California flock to watch as hundreds of artists transform the pavement of The Marketplace into stunning works of art. Funds raised from this event enable Bakersfield Museum of Art to continue its mission of ensuring that the visual arts, and access to them, remain a success in our community.

Italian Street Painting, which dates back to the 13th century, is rich with tradition and has historically been a platform of performance and a way to create art for the masses, often bringing masterworks to the streets.
