After Joaquin Sorolla’s “Sewing the Sail”

Katrina Rocha has participated in the Via Arte Italian Street Painting Festival for the last 7 years, appearing with Sequoia Middle School, West High School, as a professional artist, this year as a featured artist.

In 2021, Katrina’s recreation of Joaquin Sorolla’s “Fisherwomen”, captured the Via Arté “Best Rendition of a Master” award . The following year she was awarded “Best Technique” for her rendition of Sorolla’s “Sewing the Sail”.

In addition to her work at Via Arte, Katrina was also a member of the BMoA Artworks program—an enrichment program for high school juniors and seniors interested in careers in the visual arts—and a frequent vendor at the Bakersfield First Friday Art Walk during her high school years. She earned a Bachelor’s of Fine Arts in Drawing and Painting at California State University Fullerton.

Katrina currently lives in Orange County and continues to paint professionally. Her work explores the complexity of domestic and social environments. Using photography and observation, her oil paintings focus on a personal narrative that aims to build a shared experience of nostalgia with its viewers.
